TIME AND TIDE
Time and tide wait for no man. That is a line in one of my favorite books from one of my favorite authors. It’s really stuck with me and especially these last couple years. Time seems to have sped up and well the tide will keep on rolling.
We just released the fourth issue of Tumble Dry Low last fall and launched our new subscription. It feels like such a trip. This all started with wanting to just tear through a bunch of photos we had laying around from trips both near and far from home in Boise. We’ve been blown away by the support for this little experiment. We have awesome readers like you submitting work to be featured, we have local legends asking how they can be a part of this, and community businesses curious about showcasing the local community through these pages.
As we’ve been shipping out issues, it’s amazing to see addresses all across the west. It truly speaks to how amazing these hobbies and past times we share connects us. A sick photo is a sick photo, rad art is fun to look at, and a good story is always seductive. It means so much that there’s folks out there that want to turn pages and hold these memories and tales in their hands.
This year we covered from tip to tip along the west coast with brethren in the wilds exploring Anchorage, Boise, Oregon, Baja and more. The ribbon was cut on a new memorial skatepark in New Meadows, ID for legend and fun guy Rory and Sara Mehen. A huge accomplishment for so many in the community under the leadership of Preston Woods of the Little Ski Hill and the crew at Grindline Skateparks. Memories were made in parking lots gearing up for both Brundage and Bogus days. Sand found itself everywhere while dodging coyotes in Baja. We even got some cool looks into some Film Soup and a unique photo process out of McCall, ID. Lastly there’s an interview with longtime Boise local Charlie Allen as he dives into catching waves in Idaho and sustainably choosing a new way of life.
We’ve got ideas, we’ve got plans for more of what this could be. Until we figure that out and how to make more time, thank you so much for supporting and subscribing to the zine for what it is today and what it may become as we keep cranking out pages. Thanks for reading and enjoy the digitals here of the latest issue!
